RMS on Squeeze reunion

Retro Music Snob (Mp3's ): Retro Music Snob News: Squeeze Turns Down Reunion Tour With Crowded House.

WaPo digs Chris

WaPo: CHRIS DIFFORD "South East Side Story" Luna Records
SQUEEZE SONGWRITING collaborators Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford have each pursued a solo career after the longtime new-wave group's final breakup in the late 1990s. While Tilbrook has released several solo albums of new songs, Difford has taken a different tack, following up his 2003 debut with "South East Side Story," a collection of covers . . . of Squeeze material.

GT:OFTR Review

FilmThreat.com - Glenn Tilbrook: One for the Road
Glenn Tilbrook, solo artist and former member of the New Wave band Squeeze, arrives in Buffalo, NY, expecting to begin his own U.S. tour in an RV, as he had planned. But there’s no RV and this isn’t a typical story about the career of a musician.

You, yes YOU, can jam with Paul Carrack

And why not? He's already jammed with everyone else. Guitar Center has some kind of sweepstakes for Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in London on May 24-28. (Darn, I signed up to work Memorial Day.) Or you can buy your way into it. According to the Fantasy Camp Web page (typos from the original):

For 5 days & nights, you will jam with some of Rock ‘n Roll’s biggest stars such as JACK BRUCE of Cream!

¨ Rock out with GARY BROOKER of Procol Harum (“Whiter Shade of Pale”)!

¨ Counselors include Spike Edney (Queen), Spencer Davis (Spencer Davis Group), Neil Murray (Whitesnake & Black Sabbath), Simon Kirke (Bad Company), Mark Hudson (legendary song writer, producer & star of X-Factor, the UK version of American Idol), Jamie Moses (Mike & the Mechanics, The Pretenders), Bruce Kulick of KISS, Mick ralph of Bad Company, Paul carrack of Sqeeze and Mike & the Mechanics, and many more!

¨ “Battle of the Bands” will be at Abbey Road’s Studios, where “Live from Abbey Road” tv show is filmed!

This trip can be yours for $16,000 to $18,000.

play with kakoulli's mp3 player....

Well, this is fun. It's a Flash mp3 player that plays snippets from a world/electronica music three-CD set featuring Squeeze's very own Harri Kakoulli.

tilbrook hits australia

It's not on Glenn's official Web site but an Australian publicist has announced on her blog what appears to be an extended visit to Australia (at least three weeks, it seems) during April. She says there are Glenn dates in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria (with the RocKwiz band) and Brunswick, wherever Brunswick is. The venues she's mentioned also lists these dates. Amy Pickard's documentary also gets a screening at one of these shows. I suppose the responsible thing to do is to wait until Tilbrook updates his site. But what's a blog for if not jumping the gun?

English people, help!

Daily Mail - Ashes blog
They say you should never meet your heroes through fear of being disappointed by them but one of the biggest heroes I've ever had was there leading the England team and I was grateful to have another chance to talk to him. Graham Gooch is right up there for me along with Glenn Hoddle and Chris Difford as the three most influential hero-figures I have had.
I have no idea what that means.
